Summary- Substitution is another alternative to finding a set of points rather than using elimination. You use substitution when one of the equations has "Y" by itself. With substitution, you basically take the equation that is equal to "Y" and plug it in to the second equation and solve.

Procedures:

1. Make sure that one of the equations has an "x" or a "y" by itself.
2. Take the equation with the x or y by itself, and put it into the second equation.
3. Simplify and solve the equation as usual.
4. If your answer is a "y=", fill your answer into one of the equations so you can get the "x=" value. Do the same thing if its the opposite.
5. Your final answer should be in an ordered pair. Ex. (x,y)
